Casa Juanita
In 1978 Carlos Barreda and Juanita opened El Bodegón, a bar with tapas and a wine cellar in a 17th century building.
Carlos made an oven where food was made for the three tables that were there, while the rest of the place was full of wine barrels. Later Juanita took over, and as the years went by, she took out barrels to make way for more tables, since as a restaurant it was beginning to be known. So the bar with tapas called El Bodegón gradually gave way to the best known restaurant in the area, Casa Juanita.
Apart from the tapas, salads, escalivada and fish were made, which was later extended to meats such as entrecôte or lamb from local shepherds. However, the rock fish is the predominant one in the menu.
The Casa Juanita restaurant is currently run by Jordi Barreda, Juanita's son. In order to introduce changes, Jordi has been adding dishes to the menu, especially in view of the Begur's Gastronomic Fish Campaign, although there are dishes that remain due to their great acceptance, such as Juanita's Andalusian-style salad.
