Positive experience: I had my first kitesurfing lessons here (August 2018) and on a rough sea it was quite tough to start with, with the salty waves that kept crashing over me. Unfortunately, the kitesurfing lessons were 2 km further south, and you had to go there by car. There was no toilet or tap nearby to rinse off the salty water, so bring plenty of drinking water. I had bought 3 lessons, but in the end it took more than a week. Of course you have to have wind and that meant that I couldn't leave the Laguna campsite in Empuriabrava for a week, because I had to wait every day for the phone call telling me to come. On day 1, you'll get to know the kite. The fact that I am an experienced surfer was unfortunately to my disadvantage and my reaction to strong winds was to pull instead of letting go. On day 2, I was exhausted by the end of class. Unfortunately, the lessons were with 2 people. The other student was Spanish and in broken English I received limited instructions on my headset. And the sound in the headset kept dropping out and sometimes also important warnings. Also a piece of my molar was broken off because I was washed in the surf. I was sore all over and nauseous from the salt I swallowed. My desire to continue was completely gone. A few days later I got a call for day 3. There was wind again. I went, even though I didn't want to go anymore. The Spanish student didn't show up and I got private lessons, but half the time of course (which ended up being half an hour more). I learned a lot more than in the first 2 days (because it was a private lesson) and had a lot of fun, also because I finally saw progress. And that's why I also took some lessons in the Netherlands (on Lake Veluwe), where I obtained my IKO certificate. In the end I had an educational time with the friendly teacher.
