We rented houses everywhere we went through Home Exchange and wanted to use a campervan as our cottage on wheels. We rented for 4 weeks in March and it gave us a place to escape the rain and colder weather. The van allowed us to fully enjoy the days visiting different villages and towns. The campervan was allowing us to visit in the morning, have lunch and naps in the van before continuing our visit. With the kids, it was a gamechanger. Además todos los productos son ecofriendly cosa que les suma un valor añadido a la empresa. My husband Romulo & I traveled from Australia and hired a Citroën Jumper van to tour around Spain & Portugal as part of our European honeymoon adventure. We initially booked for 1 month, but loved our experience with Activans so much that we extended for a further 10 days and truly wished we could just drive off into the sunset and never return home! Whilst we have camped in tents & pop-up caravans before, we were new to AC/RV life & found it was the absolute perfect level of comfort & flexibility that we'd been searching for. The van was immaculate and well-equipped with all that you need to just GO! Using the "Park4Night" app to guide us, we spent time meandering from little towns, and bigger cities to coastal areas, remote natural spots and everything in between. Our favourite features of the van were: SOLAR PANELS - this meant we weren't bound to campsites only. Oh, the freedom to roam that gave us! SHOWER - it was surprisingly spacious, with an ingenious setup that contains the water to the shower pod only, so nothing else in the bathroom gets wet. Efficient hot water system. Convenient indoor/outdoor shower aspect. FRIDGE & FREEZER - the 90L fridge + 7L freezer provided so much room for all the fresh, local delights we picked up along the way. We loved exploring each region's markets and it was so nice to have the ingredients at hand to put together snacks or whip up meals wherever we were. Not to mention have cold beverages at our fingertips! "GARAGE" - the area under the bed was huge! Equipment wise we took 2 bicycles, 1 kiteboard, 2 kites with all the regular accompanying equipment & still had space for more. Plus there's even more storage all throughout the van. WINDOWS & SCREENS - with fly screens and black-out blinds on every window, including the 2 ceiling skylights and even the big sliding door, we could open the van up so the breeze gets in, but bugs stay out, and also close up at night so it was completely private and dark to sleep, whilst still being ventilated. QUALITY INCLUSIONS - the bedding, towels, kitchen utensils, eco cleaning products, outdoor table & chairs, etc are quality and included in the price (other companies charge extra for all this). It truly is a little luxury home on wheels. Overall the size and set up of the van was ideal for us. It felt spacious and yet was compact enough to allow us to be able to find parking with ease. And last but certainly not least a huge thank you to Nora & Ronan - the friendly, professional team bringing this fantastic concept of Activans to life. They themselves have lived van life and it really shows in the way they have thought of all the little details. From the moment of first contact, to answering questions and recommending locations throughout our journey, right up to checkout and follow up - Nora and Ronan's passion and dedication to guest experience was outstanding and greatly appreciated. Fantastic experience: My wife and I climb and backpack. We are from the USA and had never even been inside an RV before. We rented a 22ft van from Activans for 2 weeks in late April 2023 to explore the French Pyrenees with our mountain bikes. We traveled with the loose intention of reaching San Sebastian but had no schedule or plan. We found life together in the van to be incredibly easy and luxurious. The bed was long enough to accommodate my 6’ (184cm) frame. Lots of ventilation even on rainy nights. Hot water shower after a day of biking. Large fridge to hold cheese, vegetables and meat and… more cheese. The electricity was sufficient to run my apnea machine every night. The kitchen and table were large for two, we cooked every meal and the food couldn't help but be great thanks to the excellent (and to us inexpensive) French produce, along with a huge variety of French wine and cider. A few times we cooked and ate comfortably when outside there was a howling rainstorm and the van was shaking from the wind. Before the trip we had concerns over finding places to sleep but thanks to ‘park4night’ app we found the Pyrenees are littered with free, fantastic and quiet spots with excellent views. We ended up planning our stops based on ‘park4night’ reviews, favoring high places with cold mountain air and which were empty of people. Our van was 22ft long but never felt large to me. We used common sense and didn't try to drive on dirt roads and we stuck to the main road through small towns. Twice we had stress passing a large oncoming vehicle, inching forward on a narrow pass with tires near a precipice, but otherwise driving and parking were easy. We found other drivers to be polite and patient though many times we pulled over to let cars pass. My wife and I have traveled a lot and the van trip in the Pyrenees was one of the best things we've ever done. The Pyrenees are incredibly beautiful (at least in the spring) and the people and produce were wonderful. The Pyrenees are far, far too rich and varied to visit in only 2 weeks. We reached Col de Tourmalet before we ran out of time so never even reached the Basque Country. When we do this again we will try to go slower and rent for longer. It is an absolute luxury to be able to decide in the moment to take a different route or sleep in a nice valley because it has a particularly good fromage ferme. Enabling spontaneity and adaptation makes these vans such a bargain, you can literally follow your hearts and mood. To facilitate an early return we spent our last night in an RV park which was confusing and depressing - why are all these people paying to sleep together side by side? If you rent these vans be sure and sleep out in the remote places - that flexibility is the luxury that makes these self-contained vans such a value.
