Are you planning your holidays on the Costa Brava? In this guide to the weather on the Costa Brava we will show you what the weather is usually like in our region.
Thanks to its privileged location in the north-east of Catalonia (from Blanes to Portbou), the entire Costa Brava region enjoys a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and long, hot but pleasant summers. Its pleasant and sunny climate during the summer months makes the Costa Brava a fantastic destination for tourists, who flock to the coastal towns to enjoy the sun and the beach.
Unlike other parts of the Spanish coast, where summer temperatures can be extremely hot and exceed 40ºC, the Costa Brava is usually milder, with minimum temperatures of 16ºC and maximum temperatures of 35ºC between July and August. The average annual temperature is usually between 14º and 20º.
On some days, especially in the Alt Empordà region, in the northern part of the Costa Brava, it is possible that the famous tramontana (north wind) may make an appearance. The tramontana is a strong wind from the north that can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h and blows away any clouds on the horizon, leaving a clear blue sky.
The water temperature is also pleasant, rarely dropping below 21º.
The precipitation tends to occur in spring and autumn, although it is not abundant.
