Fantastic experience: We did the visit without a guide, as they are not offered during the week. Instead, there are panels that provide many details about their entire history. It has been entertaining and very educational.

Positive experience: The Romans knew very well where they settled, and very close to the Via Augusta, in Caldes de Malavella, they installed themselves to enjoy its thermal waters. The ruins of the baths are open to the public and can be visited at any time of the day.

Jose Luis Chaves Petiet 06/07/2023

Fantastic experience: It was built around the year 50 on top of an earlier spa from the 2nd-1st centuries BC. Its main element is the central pool, measuring 7.90 by 6.65 meters, with stepped access. A porticoed corridor, of which some parts are still preserved, surrounds the pool. To the south, there is a wall with three large openings that led to a wing consisting of five small rooms. To the east, there is the central room, where the outlet of the thermal water was located, which reached the pool through a pipeline. To the west, there is the drain. From here, the water flowed outside through a large sewer. Open access and with information throughout the route, it is a must-visit for the public.

luis morales 05/06/2023

Fantastic experience: Caldas de Malavella is not only of tourist interest for its Spas and waters, but also for the number of modernist houses; however, it is worth highlighting its Roman Baths, well-preserved and open to visit, entrance is free and the entire area is well documented.
Translated from Spanish

Enrique Sánchez 27/04/2023

Fantastic experience: Great work of recovery and consolidation of the Roman baths. The enclosure used does not divert attention from the archaeological remains that continue to be the visual center of the site. It is worth stopping by the explanatory signs because they explain the functioning of the ancient pool (natatio) very well.
Translated from Spanish

Josep Vila Gual 11/04/2023

Positive experience: To see the 'way of life' of our ancestors. It is quite well preserved and the maintenance, although improvable, is more than correct.
Translated from Catalan

Josep Castillo 21/03/2023

Positive experience: Pure history, I don't give 5 stars due to the uncivilized people who leave food scraps and energy drink cans in this extraordinary place, it's a shame about the uncivilized, the place nonetheless is worth it just like the springs that flow at 56 degrees Celsius, something worth seeing and getting to know, everything is very close and can be visited with a pleasant walk.

Fantastic experience: The Roman Baths (1st century AD) are a historical monument in the municipality of Caldes de Malavella (Selva) declared a cultural heritage of national interest. They are the best-preserved remains of the Roman municipality of Aquae Calidae, now Caldes de Malavella, mentioned in the Apolinar vessels. From these baths, which took advantage of the waters of the Fountain of the Boiling Sources, an extensive pool and some remains of annexed constructions are currently preserved, where the almost intact water functioning mechanisms can still be observed. The circulation of the water was very simple compared to the complicated one of artificial Roman baths. Since the water already came out at a temperature higher than that used for bathing, it was channeled directly to the large pool and there it was left to cool. For the small pools, it was cooled beforehand in the upper rooms.

Despatx A & E Associats 12/04/2022

Positive experience: Visiting Caldes de Malavella and not seeing the Roman baths is like going to Rome and not visiting the Colosseum. They are the best-preserved Roman remains in the municipality and are part of the thermal building of Sant Grau, which was built around AD 50 on top of an earlier spa from the 2nd-1st centuries BC. When you go, think that you are seeing a monument declared as a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN). It’s a pity that some thoughtless, uncivil, rude, and uneducated people throw garbage inside this jewel of our heritage. Open from 9 AM to 9 PM.
