Fantastic experience: I have been visiting this area for over 40 years and there is sometimes surf in the summer depending on the banks and wind. Over recent years the banks have improved and its great that the school has opened on the beach and in the town providing the opportunity to hire a board if you are lucky enough to be here, when there is swell. The guys who run it are super friendly, helpful and obviously take advantage of the days when there is surf. There is also a developing surf scene which is great. So if you are a visiting surfer, without your board, not expecting to get any waves, if you see some swell, head on down to the shop and hire a log and have some fun. I managed to score some small waves in July and the shop has a good choice of foamies, from shortboards to logs, at a reasonable price. Would be worth checking out in the Autumn/Winter when you are more likely to get some proper swell. Its not the Atlantic, but you might get something decent and the guys at the shop/school will be super helpful and point you in the right direction. Thanks for helping me get an unexpected session in July.
