Fantastic experience: Share the experience of visiting a cultural space with a walk through history, featuring a site of medieval remains and a city concept. The Citadel of Roses in winter allows you to see a museum and in summer you can attend concerts with Sons del Món that has a schedule.

Fantastic experience: One of the best things in Roses. The place is very well maintained, it's pleasant to stroll through the esplanade, explore the ruins, and see the museum. The price is very reasonable, with a discount if you belong to certain groups. It was a very pleasant visit, we enjoyed it a lot.

Positive experience: Place to see a part of the history of Roses where you have a small indoor museum and the ruins in a fairly large area that is nice for a walk and to see a bit of what has remained, whether you are interested in history or not. The entrance fee is quite economical and for the time you'll spend there, it's quite good, and children are free. Near this museum, there is a dirt lot that is free and ideal for parking as it is a complicated area.

Fantastic experience: Archaeological site still under exploration. Traces of civilizations since the Neolithic. We went at noon and it was almost empty. Despite the sun, we enjoyed the walk among the ruins imagining the life of those who once inhabited the place. There was an exhibition of beautiful and suggestive nature photos. We bought some souvenirs and they attended to us with great diligence.

Fantastic experience: A very beautiful and impressive place with its ruins and museum. Regarding the concert I saw there by Luz Casal at the Sons del Emporda festival, excellent venue for concerts, everything very well organized with fool tracks to have something before the concert. Very well taken care of by all the staff who look after these events. We also saw some very entertaining monologues by Corbacho. Luz Casal's performance was impressive. I 100% recommend visiting this place and if you can enjoy the events that are held there.

I recommend the guided tour; it is a bit more expensive but totally worth it because this complex has a lot of little anecdotes that are hard to discover without a guide. Fantastic experience: A must-visit if you are in the area, whether you like history or simply strolling around. The entrance fee is very economical compared to other places, 4€ at most. Many corners to discover with splendid views. I believe dogs can enter, I don't know the details, but I saw a few inside. If the day is very hot, I recommend bringing a hat or similar, as there aren't many shady spots in the venue. However, on the day I visited, there was a very pleasant breeze at the top of the wall. There is also a museum that is definitely worth it. There are also temporary exhibitions and, in summer, especially, the venue is used for various events.

I recommend entering the museum first to see the history and get contextualized. The place is BEAUTIFUL. It’s wonderful to get lost discovering the ruins. Take the route slowly and enjoy the monuments. One thing I liked is that you can enter some towers and you can also enter some rooms. Artistically and archaeologically, you walk through 13 centuries of history. Remains of all the settlements in Roses, many of them very well preserved, from the ancient Greek Rode to Romans, Visigoths, Paleochristians... all the way to the Renaissance. Fantastic experience: La Ciutadella seems to me one of the must-visit places for those visiting Roses. It is a young historic-artistic ensemble, recognized in 1961, because before that it was attempted to build in that place. Finally, it was managed to convert it into a historical and cultural space. La Ciutadella combines vestiges of the last thirteen centuries. It has different spaces and a huge area for walking and exploring the ruins and paths without overwhelming crowds. It covers 131,480 m2. It has an archaeological site where you can see the remains of the Hellenistic quarter of the Greek colony of Rhode, which lived through the city's peak prosperity during the 4th and 3rd centuries BC. A Roman villa, dated between the 2nd century BC and the 6th century AD. Remains of the paleochristian necropolis and other buildings from the Visigothic period. Romanesque Lombard monastery of Santa Maria, from the 11th century, and remains of the fortified medieval urban core. Remains of different military buildings from the last occupation of the 16th century. And of course, a Museum that facilitates an immersion in the history and cultural heritage of Roses, from prehistory to the more recent era with an Exhibition Hall. There are guided tours for little money, and it's very worthwhile. Before you enter, you will find some sculptures and references along the Roses promenade.

Positive experience: A must-visit place in Roses. The entrance to the museum is affordable and you can easily follow the history of the site in different languages. The exterior is beautiful, but it lacks information. We missed a guided tour, as it was difficult to follow a logical order with just the map and the QR codes. When we asked the staff, they didn't help us more or give us any directions.
Translated from Spanish

Museu la Ciutadella de Roses
Hello Sofia, the Citadel is a 12-hectare site with 25 centuries of history, with QR codes it is complicated to interpret the entire archaeological site. That's why we always recommend guided tours available every weekend, and during Holy Week, we had them every day for 10 days. We are sorry you did not have the appropriate information, but the person who is on duty does not inform about these matters. You need to go to reception to the ticket office. In any case, we have two large signs with the guided tours and their schedules right at the entrance and another one at reception. Thank you very much

Fantastic experience: An impressive place that has seen the ancient Greeks, Romans, Visigoths, Muslims, and Napoleonic forces, leaving many of them their share of legacy. The free visit costs 4 euros and includes access to the museum. You can bring your dog (except in the museum area) and even the kids will have fun if you plan it well. It's worth it!

Positive experience: I did not enter because the price is a bit high for what is inside; practically it is just the wall and from the outside you can see part of the church inside and little more, some remains. In my opinion, it should be cheaper, coming from the ruins of Ampuria Brava where there are indeed archaeological remains and the price you pay is worth it.

Pets are only allowed outside, inside the museum it's not allowed, but outside in the citadel it's fine. Owners should bring bags for the matters that animals make. Thank you to everyone who visits us? And to those who don't. We invite you to come. Positive experience: Well-structured museum with an explanatory video at the beginning of the tour and very good presentation. The exterior on such hot summer days is not pleasant to walk through in full sun, so it's better to wait until the last hour to visit it. The only negative point I have is that, being a municipal museum, there is no discount on the ticket for people with disabilities, but there is for other groups, an absolute nonsense.

Positive experience: A pleasant encounter with the history of #Catalonia. The ruins of the Citadel are impressive, although at times some poorly executed interventions can be noticed, like those of the Church. Another thing that stands out is that the place is marketed as an ideal venue for performances, which in my view contradicts the proper conservation that this place, which could be categorized as a 'sacred site', should have. The Museum is amazing. #mustsee

At the entrance and exit there are restrooms and a cafeteria. There is no shade, it is all under the sun. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a bottle of water especially in summer. There are very few explanations. For that, they use guided tours in Spanish on some full days. Ticket sales at the box office, with discounts for the disabled and seniors. Positive experience: The space is nice, and the entrance fee is reasonable considering there isn’t much to see inside (four Greek stones, four Roman stones, some more stones from the medieval period, and two cars that I am not clear if they are Greek, Roman, or designed by the architect who pocketed 20,000 bucks for designing the cement tower that tries to recreate the original). It is advisable to take the guided tour because it is quite well explained by the guides available and is also offered in several languages. Fantastic experience: A great surprise. The truth is that the citadel is very large and in one place you have a lot of history: Greek, Roman, medieval... The site has a museum that explains all the history and evolution, with artifacts, etc. In the museum, it was a bit hot and we missed AC. Outside, you can take a walk at your leisure to see the different areas, although the best thing is to follow the historical order. They had an interactive map and another one where you could see 3D reconstructions. We went in the middle of the morning and the truth is that being so exposed made us very hot. We recommend going either first thing in the morning or at the end of the day to enjoy it to the fullest.
