About Figueres es MOU
Figueres es MOU is an annual event dedicated to dance and movement arts that seeks to bring these forms of expression closer to the public in the areas of Girona, promoting accessibility and citizen participation in the cultural field.
This impactful celebration of the world of dance and local culture focuses on fostering meaningful community participation. It serves as a tool for citizens to express themselves, as well as to drive social and cultural change through movement.
Since its inception in 2014, the festival has been committed for eight years to making the language of dance and movement accessible to the community of Figueres. This has been achieved through careful programming, training activities, awareness campaigns and support for a variety of projects related to the world of dance. Throughout the different editions, Figueres has received internationally renowned artists from countries such as France, England, Germany and Italy, offering dance shows of various kinds both nationally and internationally.
In this edition, in its ninth consecutive year, the festival will welcome artists who will exhibit their works in different spaces in the capital of Alt Empordà, as has been done in previous editions. The organization of Figueres is MOU is in charge of AGITART, a leading institution in the promotion of dance and movement in the Girona region. This festival is part of the Spanish network of dance festivals in unconventional spaces known as RED ACIELOABIERTO, as well as the STREET ARTS OF CATALUÑA platform. In addition, it receives the support of the TRANSVERSAL NETWORK of CATALONIA. Figueres es MOU also has the institutional support of the Generalitat of Catalonia, the Figueres City Council, the Girona Provincial Council and the Ministry of Culture and Sports. The festival has the collaboration of Comerç Figueres and various media outlets.
