Restaurant Hotel El Moli
The history of this mill, the Calvet mill, begins in the 17th century, when it became one of the most important mills in the area because it worked 3 turbines that rolled 3 stone mills thanks to the strength of the water of the Muga river. Two millstones are still preserved in the bar area. Of the five ovens that used to bake the cement, one is still preserved in the terrace area of the restaurant.
From the sixties of the 20th century it stops working and deteriorates until in 1978 it is acquired by the Lladó, Pedro and Angelina family, who decide to make a respectful restoration of the mill to turn it into a restaurant, preserving the original walls and stone turns.
In 1980, after two years of construction work, the restaurant was opened in the lower part of the mill. While working with the restoration of the first and second floor to turn it into a small hotel with 7 rooms that opens in 1982.
Gradually, and with the incorporation of his three children, Marc, Jordi and Eva, in 2009 begins a new building attached to the mill that expands with eight new rooms, a breakfast area, a common room with fireplace and an outdoor pool. This building will be inaugurated on May 20, 2011.
The Hotel El Molí also has a restaurant that is a reference in the region, with a friendly and welcoming service, and a traditional cuisine based on seasonal products (grilled meats, game, mushrooms, snails, artichokes, beans, truffles...).
